Balatro Wiki

Chicot is one of the five legendary Jokers. Chicot disables all Boss Blind effects upon selection, effectively making the boss blind just a regular blind with a higher base score to clear. Legendary Jokers can only be obtained from Spectral The Soul The Soul Spectral Card, which has a small chance to spawn in Spectral and Arcana Booster Packs.

Synergies[]

Decks[]

Any deck can benefit from Chicot, although the Painted Deck Painted Deck can be harder to utilize due to the -1 Joker slot penalty.

Poker Hands[]

Any poker hand can benefit from Chicot, but Flush benefits the most as some boss blinds debuff an entire suit, including any wild cards.

Jokers[]

Being a utility Joker, Chicot doesn't directly synergize with any other Joker.

It has anti-synergy with Luchador Luchador, because they both disable boss blinds, although Luchador can only do it once. It also makes Matador Matador useless, as there is no longer any effect to trigger.

A second copy of Chicot actually makes some Boss Blinds have a positive effect (scales with multiple copies):

However, as Chicot's effect cannot be duplicated by Blueprint Blueprint or Brainstorm Brainstorm, this is extremely rare. (This feature may actually be a bug, and might be patched in the future.)

Vouchers[]

Chicot makes Director's Cut Director's Cut and Retcon Retcon obsolete by disabling all effects of the Boss Blinds. However, with multiple copies of Chicot, it may be worth rerolling the Boss Blind to get a positive effect, especially considering the 'positive' bugs listed above such as The Manacle The Manacle' permanent hand size increases.

Trivia[]

  • Chicot (c. 1540–1591), real name Jean-Antoine d'Anglerais, was the jester of King Henry III of France, and later Henry IV. He was sharp-tongued, very cunning, and spoke with the king without formalities. Chicot disabling Boss Blinds in the game is likely a reference to this.
  • This joker is animated, with Chicot hovering just above the red card face.
  • The other legendary Jokers are Canio Canio, Perkeo Perkeo, Triboulet Triboulet and Yorick Yorick.
