Balatro Wiki

There are several documented methods on YouTube to achieving a Naneinf score, which all require specific set-ups that use the Baron and Mime Jokers, with differing methods for achieving a large hand size of Kings modified with a red seal and Steel.

Number of red seal Steel Kings required (assuming High card lvl. 1)
No. of Baron triggers No. of Mime triggers No. of red seal Steel Kings in hand
Traditional scoring deck 3 3 88
Traditional scoring deck 3 4 74
Plasma Deck 3 3 44
Plasma Deck 4 3 38

Unseeded Naneinf without Legendary Jokers[]

This method can be performed at any stake for any unseeded run, and does not require any Legendary Jokers.

Jokers[]

Required Key Jokers[]

  • Baron and Mime. The combo that gives 1.5x multiple times to each King.
  • Four of Blueprint and Brainstorm, at least one Blueprint. Use two each to copy your Baron and Mime or three copy on Baron and one on Mime.
  • Burglar. Copy this 4 times when The Serpent is selected to create 3x5 = 15 extra hands.

Other useful jokers[]

  • Mail-In Rebate: Fills your 7th Joker slot when not using DNA, Showman or Invisible Joker and gives a lot of money. Use the maximum number of Discards per Blind to maximize your money, up to $25 per discarded King, but be sure to have at least 8 Kings in hand after all Discards. A negative Mail-In-Rebate is the absolute nuts for this build, allowing you both earn money and have an extra joker slot. You can use Reserved Parking in a pinch for economy, but it is not as effective.
  • Diet Cola - buy and sell this whenever you see it to collect Double Tags to allow you to copy the Voucher Tag in the late game. Prioritize this over any other card in your 7th slot, until you have >5 Double tags, or you have all the essential Vouchers.
  • Showman - this Uncommon Joker allows duplicate cards to appear in the shop, and is extremely useful for finding extra Blueprints and Brainstorms.
  • Invisible Joker - this Rare Joker copies a random Joker in your pool, but only becomes active after 2 rounds.  Useful for copying a Blueprint or Brainstorm, but can be hit or miss.
  • DNA - Rare Joker used to create 5 new red seal Steel Kings per Blind once you have your four copy Jokers set up. You only need to hold this Joker until you have 48+ red seal Steel Kings in your deck and are past Ante 24.
  • Burglar - the final piece of the puzzle, only required right before you attempt the Naneinf. Make sure you have a large amount of money saved for multiple shop re-rolls (>$2000), and grab a random Uncommon Joker before rerolling the shop to dilute the pool making Burglar slightly more likely to appear. If it doesn’t appear before you run out of money for boss rerolls (>$200) to The Serpent boss a Reserved Parking can allow for gaining more money up until Ante 31 which is the last boss to reroll into The Serpent to find the Burglar next ante.

Deck[]

This method requires the Plasma Deck since this Deck squares the average of your Chip and Mult scores, enabling higher scoring.

Naneinf set-up

Captured from Balatro Calculator

Set Up[]

45 red seal Steel Kings in hand while using Plasma Deck, Baron+Mime, and 4 copiers (e.g. 2 Blueprints and 2 Brainstorms) to create over 20 hands with Burglar against The Serpent. This scores over e308 (the Naneinf threshold).

Minimum of 7 Joker slots required[]

Starting with 5 slots, gain +1 from the Antimatter, and +1 from using Ectoplasm on a key Joker.

Minimum hand size of 9 required[]

Runs start with 8, and you can gain +2 from the Paint Brush and Palette vouchers, but lose -1 from Ectoplasm. Do not use a second Ectoplasm, since this further reduces hand size by -2.

Minimum of 20 hands required[]

Runs start with 4 hands per Blind, but this can be increased by +2 from the Grabber and Nacho Tong vouchers. Burglar copied 4 times generates 15 more hands, giving a total of 21 hands for your Naneinf scoring round. Do not use Hieroglyph since this reduces hands per round by -1.

Serpent Boss[]

This non-Finisher Boss Blind allows you to draw 3 cards and add them to your hand after playing or discarding even just one card. Effectively you can increase your hand size by double the number of hands you have minus one (the last hand which you need to play to score), i.e., (21-1) x 2 = 40, giving you 40 + 8 red seal Steel Kings in your hand = 48. The Retcon voucher is essential to re-roll for this Boss, since it is not guaranteed to appear when you need it. Make sure you have enough money to re-roll multiple times ($10 per roll).

Timing[]

Since the Naneinf technique requires you to use The Serpent to increase your hand size to over 44, and this Boss is only available on non-Finisher Boss rounds (i.e., not on rounds 8, 16, 24, or 32), you need to time your Naneinf play appropriately. You should aim to do this after the point at which abusing the Serpent does not beat the score target prematurely (hence finishing the Blind without achieving Naneinf), but before the Ante scores get too high. This happens after Ante 24 (since the required score is higher than the lowest score you can achieve with Burglar adding multiple red seal Steel Kings in hand and one uncopied Baron + Mime). To get past the Finisher Boss on Ante 24 you must beat scores higher than e77 by using DNA to increase your hand size by +5, which allows you to reach scores of e87. To progress past ante 25 you must skip all Small and Big Blinds and re-roll for The Serpent boss. The limit however is ante 32 which is a Finisher Boss, and hence the Serpent cannot be used, and DNA is not enough to beat the score. In practice, Naneinf with this method is most easily achievable between Antes 25 and 31, giving you 7 attempts at finding a Burglar between rounds.

Required Vouchers[]

This set up requires specific Vouchers in order to be successful. Which voucher appears at the start of each round is largely up to chance, but you can work around this by collecting a number of Double Tags to store up for use in the late game. Collected Double Tags add up in your sidebar and can be used to copy the Voucher Tag that randomly appears on Small or Big Blinds. You can accumulate Double Tags in two ways: skipping Blinds that give a Double Tag, or buying and selling Diet Cola. However, the Voucher skip tag is not guaranteed to show up at all, so you should also make sure to buy the essential Vouchers whenever you see them during your run.

Essential vouchers for Naneinf[]

  • Blank and Antimatter to get another Joker slot.
  • Paintbrush and Palette to increase hand size by 2.
  • Director’s Cut and Retcon for infinite Boss re-rolls.

Useful Vouchers[]

  • Grabber and Nacho Tong for extra hands.
  • Seed Money and Money Tree for extra interest.
  • Tarot Merchant to display more Tarot cards in the shop.
  • Wasteful and Recyclomancy for extra discards.
  • Telescope to guarantee the planet card for your most played had in Celestial packs.
  • Crystal Ball for the extra consumable slot, and Omen Globe to generate spectral cards.
  • Reroll Surplus and Reroll Glut for cheaper re-rolls.
  • Clearance Sale and Liquidation for cheaper shop items.
  • Overstock and Overstock Plus to increase the shop size.

Useless Vouchers[]

These vouchers do not help with getting Naneinf, but can still be bought so they will not reappear in the Shop, making it more likely to get one of other essential Vouchers over the next rounds.

  • Hone and Glow Up
  • Observatory

Actively bad Vouchers[]

These vouchers all dilute the cards shown in the shop with items you don’t necessarily need. Buying these Vouchers lowers the chance of finding specific Jokers and Tarot cards that you actually need when the time comes to do extensive re-rolling.

  • Tarot Tycoon since Tarot Merchant is more than enough to ensure you get a decent number of Tarot cards
  • Planet Merchant and Planet Tycoon
  • Magic Trick and Illusion
  • Hieroglyph reduces the number of Hands by 1, so if you do take this Voucher you will need both Grabber and Nacho Tong to compensate, ensuring you can reach the required base number of Hands.
  • Petroglyph reduces your discards by 1, which can be a disadvantage if you are relying on Mail-In Rebate discards to generate money.

Strategy (first 8 antes)[]

  • Your aim is to maximize money, find one or two copying Jokers, and get at least one red seal Gold King in your deck by round 8. You do not need Baron or Mime in the first 8 antes.
  • Surviving early Antes: Look for Jokers that give Chips in the early Antes. Stuntman one-shots the first 5 to 6 rounds easily on its own. Otherwise, you can go for Hanging Chad and Photograph once you have some poker hands upgraded. Ideally you should have one or two cards that score, and the rest are flexible Joker slots to use for your economy and deck fixing. In the early game you can play whatever hands you want, but later on you should switch to high scoring hands such as Four of a Kind, Five of a Kind, or Flush Five. (Once you have Baron and Mime you should go to High Card only).
  • Red seal Gold King: this is the core of the build, and should be your primary aim from the very first Blind. You should try and find a red seal King as soon as possible, which can be done in four ways:
    1. By opening standard card packs whenever you can afford to, looking for a red seal on a King. It is fine to grab a lower value card which can be upgraded using Strength, but don’t go too low (e.g. a red seal 2 will be difficult to convert up to a King using Strength alone).
    2. Find a Deja Vu spectral card in spectral packs, and hope that a King (or Queen, Jack, or 10 that can be strengthened) appears in hand when the pack opens.
    3. Use Sixth Sense to play and destroy a 6 in exchange for a spectral card, which has a 1 in 18 chance to be a Deja Vu - so it is worth remembering not to use The Hanged Man on your 6’s until you have a red seal card in your deck.
    4. If you have the Omen Globe Voucher, Spectral cards can appear in Arcana Packs (although you are unlikely to get this Voucher early on in the run).
  • Once you have one red seal King, you should aim to convert it immediately to a Gold card, either using The Devil or Midas Mask. Gold red seal cards trigger twice at the end of a round, further increasing your money. Once you have a Gold red seal King, you can work on copying it over and over again with the Death Tarot card.
  • While working on converting your deck to Gold red seal Kings, you should also be looking to thin your deck at the same time using The Hanged Man whenever you can. You should also use Justice to create Glass cards which can be shattered, and Tower to convert non-Kings to Stone. These all work together to thin your deck quickly and leave only Kings.
  • In general, you should be opening every Arcana Pack each store to maximize your deck fixing possibilities, and starting each new Blind with at least two consumables in your slots to use during play.
  • You can also use purple seal cards to create new consumables each round on Discard - ideally by the end game you would have 4-6 Kings with purple seals (to maximize Mail-In Rebate potential), but to start with, any cards with purple seals will do.
  • Focus only on Planet cards that will be useful - Pluto for the end game (aim for level 100), Mars for Four of a Kind going into Antes 7-12, and Eris for Flush Five for higher Antes.
  • Take all Double Tags that you are offered, even if this means skipping Blinds, or selling useful Jokers to make space for a Diet Cola} to buy and sell. Do not skip any Blinds except for Double Tags once you have started collecting them.

Strategy in Endless mode (Antes 8 to 24)[]

  • Now that you should have at least one copying Joker and at least one red seal Gold King, you have five main goals in Endless mode:
    1. Finding Baron and Mime: Can be found either in Buffoon Packs, or by re-rolling the shop. In general, you will usually find Mime first since it is more common. Mime also works well with your Gold red seal Kings to generate even more money. It is advisable to have both by Ante 12 when the score requirements enter into the e11+ range.
    2. Making money: Anything is possible in Balatro with enough money, and so one of the key strategies to achieving Naneinf is to ensure you have a money-generating engine that complements your build and allows you to dig deep when needed by rerolling in the store. In the early game, focus on money-generating jokers such as Business Card, Rocket, Cloud 9, Reserved Parking, To the Moon and Gift Card. In particular, Mail-In Rebate is the MVP here once you have fixed your deck to be all Kings, since you can discard 5 cards up to 6 times, while copying the Mail-In Rebate 4 times for $25 per card discarded. This can easily generate over $400 per Blind. Obviously all the economy vouchers also help with generating money and making cards and re-rolls cheaper.
    3. Making 44+ red seal Steel Kings: Once your deck is close to being entirely Gold red seal Kings, you can start converting them to Steel cards using The Chariot and Death. You won’t need to convert all your cards immediately to Steel, wait until you have acquired your Baron and Mime Jokers and passed the first Finisher Blind at Ante 8. Once you have some copy Jokers and you are heading into the higher Antes, you can look for DNA to create multiple copies of red seal Steel Kings. You need to create at least 45 red seal Steel Kings. DNA is the key to this, since getting Cryptid from Spectral packs (or Arcana packs after Omen Globe is redeemed) is too unreliable.
    4. Finding four copying Jokers: Once you have a Blueprint and/or Brainstorm in hand, they won’t appear in the shop anymore. There are two ways to get more copies: use Invisible Joker, although it risks duplicating another Joker, or use Showman to allow duplicates in the shop. You need 4 copying Jokers in the end, and at least one of them must be Blueprint.
    5. Finding or creating a negative key Joker: This is absolutely essential for the Naneinf since a 7th Joker slot is required for the Burglar, and can only be done in two ways.
      1. Get lucky and find a naturally negative Baron, Mime, Blueprint or Brainstorm, though this is extremely rare so don’t plan for this,
      2. Find and use Ectoplasm, best done once you have all of your key Jokers (Baron + Mime + one copier). If it misses a key Joker, then you won’t be getting Naneinf since it is an absolute requirement to have 4 copying Jokers for the Burglar to create 15 extra hands. You can find Ectoplasm from Spectral Packs, or Arcana Packs after using Omen Globe, or from Sixth Sense. You may need to save Ectoplasm in your consumable tray until the right moment.

Performing the Naneinf[]

  • Once you are past Ante 24 and have Baron, Mime and four copying Jokers, and you have 45+ red seal Steel Kings in your deck, you have completed the set up. All you need is to find a Burglar, then skip to the Boss Blind and re-roll for The Serpent finisher Boss.
  • Before selecting the Boss Blind, arrange your Jokers so that the Burglar will be copied 4 times, then select the Boss Blind. This will give you 15 extra hands for the round.
  • For now, keep all of the copy Jokers copying Burglar.
  • Now you must play one any non-red seal Steel King first to ensure that the red seal Steel Kings remain in your hand, if you have no non-red seal Steel Kings then play one of them in order to receive two extra red seal Steel Kings into your hand from your deck.
  • Repeat until you have a minimum of 45 cards in your hand.
  • Rearrange your Jokers into maximum Baron/Mime copying positions (two copies for each), and get ready to play your final card.

Unseeded Naneinf with Perkeo[]

This method relies on Perkeo's ability to generate unlimited negative copies of consumable cards. The set up and strategy is essentially the same for the Baron + Mime + Burglar set up above, except for the scoring method, in which the player should generate red seal Steel Kings by using multiple negative Cryptids created by Perkeo. Since Perkeo is a Legendary Joker, and hence quite rare, it is not always possible to use it to achieve Naneinf on any given unseeded run.

Deck[]

This Naneinf technique can in theory be done using any Deck, however the Ghost Deck is recommended since Spectral Cards such as Cryptid can appear naturally in the shop.

Performing the Naneinf[]

  • Once you have Baron, Mime, some copying Jokers, and enough negative Cryptids in your consumable slots, you are ready to go. The number of Cryptids required will vary depending on the number of Baron/Mime triggers you have. With 4 copying Jokers, 88 Kings are required in hand using Ghost Deck. With fewer copying Jokers, more Cryptids will be needed.
  • This technique can be performed during any Small, Big or compatible Boss Blind (that doesn't debuff or discard your cards).
  • Arrange your Jokers for maximum Baron/Mime copying.
  • Play one negative Cryptid to generate two more copies of a red seal Steel King in your hand.
  • Repeat until you have a minimum of 89 King cards in your hand, and then play one King card to reach Naneinf.

Theoretical Perkeo + Observatory Naneinf[]

In theory, Naneinf is achievable using Perkeo to create multiple negative copies of Pluto and relying on Observatory to provide x1.5 Mult per Pluto card. Using the red seal Steel King set up above, but with only 8 Kings in hand, this would require 1582 negative Plutos with a traditional scoring deck. This is practically impossible since Perkeo can only create one Pluto per round until copying Jokers are found, and there are only 113 rounds until Ante 39 assuming none are skipped. Even with Perkeo and 4 copying Jokers from the very first round, a player would only be able to generate 566 negative Plutos by Ante 39. With the Plasma Deck, the requirement would be 718 negative Plutos, which still remains practically unachievable, since this would require 6 copying Jokers and a Perkeo all in round 1. Modded runs have been able to achieve this, however.

After Naneinf[]

After achieving Naneinf the game will allow you to continue back to the Shop and select another round to continue playing. However, once you play your next card the game will crash, since it cannot use Naneinf as a real number for which to compare against any new scores generated. The error reads:

Oops! Something went wrong: functions/misc_functions.lua:1019: attempt to compare nil with number

Immediately after achieving Naneinf the highest hand score displayed in the stats menu will read 'naneinf', but after exiting and re-loading the game the highest hand score will be reset to zero.
