Hanging Chad is a Joker that retriggers the first card that is scored in a played hand twice. This effectively triples that card's Chips value, plus any bonus effects it may have from Card Modifiers.
Synergies[]
Decks[]
Because Hanging Chad retriggers the first card, it's important to have lots of useful buff cards in the deck. The Zodiac Deck benefits greatly thanks to its increased Tarot Cards rate in shop, while the Yellow Deck provides early economy to afford booster packs.
Poker Hands[]
Hanging Chad's effect applies to whatever card in a played hand that is scored first (i.e. the left-most card in a played hand). Before playing a hand, the player should re-order their cards so that the first scored card will be one that will provide the most benefits. For example, if a card will provide extra Chips or Mult when scored, Hanging Chad can be used to triple that benefit.

Trivia[]
- A "chad" is the fragment of paper created when a hole is made in paper or similar substances, such as with a hole punch. A "hanging" chad is one that hasn't fully separated, remaining attached at a single corner. This became a major issue during the 2000 U.S. presidential election, where hanging chads on punch card ballots led to controversy and multiple recounts, ultimately requiring a court decision on whether such ballots should be counted. A visual reference to this appears in "How I Met Your Mother", where Ted Mosby wears a "Hanging Chad" costume in Season 7, Episode 6. This specific depiction of a "Hanging Chad" closely resembles the design of the card.
Ted Mosby's "Hanging Chad" costume
- Despite being see through from the front, this Joker has the default face down texture.
- The dot and line markings along the left edge of the card are binary numbers, where a dot represents 0 and a dash represents 1. The four visible numbers are, from top to bottom, 1, 2, 4, and 5. The hanging chad presumably obscures the symbols "
••||" or "0011", which is binary for 3.
