The Matador provides a cash boost whenever you play a hand that triggers a Boss Blind's ability (such as attempting to score debuffed cards). This effect doesn't work with all Boss Blinds, though, and can occasionally give results inconsistent with what one might expect. As a general rule, any hand that contains a debuffed card, or will not score, will trigger Matador.
Blinds that can trigger Matador:
- Suit-debuffing Blinds:
- The Window
- The Head
- The Club
- The Goad
- The Plant
- The Psychic
- The Pillar
- The Flint
- The Eye and The Mouth, if hand is a non-scoring hand
- The Arm, if played hand's level could be decreased (when it is level 2 or higher)
- The Ox, if hand sets money to zero (The Ox sets the money to zero, THEN triggers Matador's effect, allowing you to keep the money earned, provided you don't trigger it again)
- The Verdant Leaf, if no Joker has been sold yet
All other blinds do not trigger Matador's effect.
Synergies[]
Matador gains the most value out of being used during applicable Boss Blinds the most amount of times. This generally means you want more hands, and Blind reroll abilities if the boss won't trigger Matador.
Decks[]
- Blue Deck allows you to play more hands, allowing Matador to trigger more often.
- Anaglyph Deck appreciates a way to make money that isn't hindered by needing to play Blinds instead of skipping them.
Jokers[]
- Burglar is the best Joker to combine Matador with, as with ideal draws you can obtain an additional $24 from each Boss Blind.
- To the Moon can benefit from the mid-round money earning, as this money will count toward interest.
- Jokers such as Bull or Bootstraps that directly scale off of money enjoy the extra cash that Matador brings in.
- Jokers such as Flash Card or Red Card that scale off of actions that require money to be spent can also benefit from the extra spendable cash.
- Boss Blind disabling Jokers like Luchador and Chicot should be treated as mutually exclusive with Matador, as their anti-synergy can ruin it.
Vouchers[]
- As with many mid-round economy Jokers, Seed Money and Money Tree are very helpful, as they allow more interest to be gained off of that money.
- Director's Cut and Retcon are useful vouchers to reroll into a Boss Blind that triggers Matador, however, spending too much money on rerolling will negate the benefits given by Matador.
Other Synergies[]
Wild Cards are debuffed by all four Suit-debuffing Boss Blinds, causing them to always trigger Matador when scored in a hand.
Trivia[]
- Matadors, or bullfighters, are the main performers with the bull in bullfighting. The lead matador is dressed in gold, like our Joker, with other matadors dressed in silver. Matadors often wave a red cloth to attract or anger the bull. Similarly, this Joker rewards the player for provoking the Boss Blind's ability.
