Mr. Bones is a unique effect Joker. By equipping this Joker, players can survive a blind without scoring the required amount of chips, provided they managed to score at least 25% of the target amount. Upon playing all of their hands, Mr. Bones will perish and grants victory to the blind, with the result screen saying "Saved by Mr. Bones". This also skips the normal reward money you get for beating a Blind. The player still gains interest, Anaglyph Deck still gives a Double Tag, and the
Investment Tag still gives $25.
Mr. Bones will not save you when you run out of cards, even if you have reached 25% of the blind requirement.
Synergies[]
Decks[]
- Black Deck gives 1 extra Joker slot in exchange for 1 fewer hand, which can be used by Mr. Bones, as 1 less hand makes it harder to get to the required score.
Poker Hands[]
This Joker does not affect any poker hand, but may be slightly more useful if you have a deck built around lower-scoring hands.
Jokers[]
- Blueprint and Brainstorm can't copy this Joker, so don't try to get multiple extra lives out of it.
- Showman can let you pick up multiple Mr. Bones, which you'd likely need the effects of due to missing 3 scoring Jokers by that point.
Boss Blinds[]
- Mr. Bones can be useful when the play style of a round is extremely fragile to certain Boss Blinds, for example:
- With deck made mostly by a certain suit, or with Smeared Joker:
The Club,
The Goad,
The Window and
The Head
- With deck made mostly by face cards, or with Pareidolia:
The Plant,
The Mark
- With hand type of high level:
The Flint,
The Arm
- Relying on certain hand type, or with Card Sharp:
The Eye
- Relying on building a hand:
The Mark,
The Water,
Cerulean Bell
- Relying on combo effect of held Jokers:
Verdant Leaf,
Crimson Heart
- Being relatively weak, and reliant on multiple hands to beat a blind:
The Needle,
The Wall and
Violet Vessel
- With deck made mostly by a certain suit, or with Smeared Joker:
- Also, when playing against Finisher Blinds found in Ante 8. Being saved by Mr. Bones will still award the player a win, effectively making this joker divide the final round's chip requirement by 4. Note that being saved by this Joker will not allow it to gain a stake sticker.
- However,
Crimson Heart is the blind that Mr. Bones is weakest against, as if it becomes debuffed on the final hand, it will become useless.
Trivia[]
- Mr. Bones can bail you out of any round before Ante 39. This is because at ante 39 the required score is "NaN" - Not a Number - and the game will not recognize any number as at least 25% of the requirement.
- Normally, Mr. Bones can't save you if you run out of cards in your deck. However, if you have two Mr. Bones, running out of cards puts the game in a glitched state where it ends the round every frame, with very strange results. Alternately, instead of a second Mr. Bones, this glitched state can be achieved by selling Luchador against
The Wall or
Violet Vessel immediately after playing your losing hand to reduce the blind requirement below your score.
