Synergies[]

Decks[]

  • Checkered Deck Checkered Deck cannot benefit from Rough Gem due to a lack of cards with the Diamond suit.
  • Erratic Deck Erratic Deck can benefit from Rough Gem if the deck is randomized to have more Diamonds than other suits.

Poker Hands[]

Playing any Flush with Diamonds will ensure maximum benefit from Rough Gem.

Jokers[]

Rough Gem directly synergizes with Greedy Joker Greedy Joker, as both give bonuses for scoring Diamonds.

As with many money-producing Jokers, it directly buffs the effects of Bull Bull and Bootstraps Bootstraps. It also, indirectly, powers up Flash Card Flash Card, Red Card Red Card, Ceremonial Dagger Ceremonial Dagger, and other such economy-based scaling Jokers by producing more money to use in activating their effects.

As Rough Gem produces money mid-round, it works very well with To the Moon To the Moon, as the money produced counts towards interest earned at the end of the round.

Any jokers that retrigger cards allows Rough Gem to activate multiple times on a single card (Dusk Dusk, Hack Hack, Seltzer Seltzer, Sock and Buskin Sock and Buskin, or Hanging Chad Hanging Chad).

Smeared Joker Smeared Joker allows all Heart suit icon Heart cards to count as Diamonds for scoring, letting Rough Gem work on more cards.

Splash Splash can occasionally be useful, as the scoring of an additional Diamond that wouldn't otherwise score is extra money. However, you ideally want to be playing flushes, which Splash is useless for.

Trivia[]

  • While Smeared Joker Smeared Joker allows heart cards to count as Diamonds for the purpose of scoring, those cards do not count as diamonds for the purpose of unlocking the joker.
