The Trio is a rare Joker that offers an easy X3 Mult any time you play a hand that contains a Three of a Kind.
It can be unlocked by winning a run without playing a Three of a Kind (though playing other hands that contain three cards of the same rank, such as Full House, are allowed for the unlock condition).
