Yorick is one of the five legendary Jokers. Yorick starts at X1 Mult, and gains an additional X1 Mult for every 23 cards discarded. Legendary Jokers can only be obtained from The Soul Spectral Card, which has a small chance to spawn in Spectral and Arcana Booster Packs.
Synergies[]
Decks[]
- The Red Deck's additional discard makes improving Yorick's ability much easier.
Poker Hands[]
Yorick works well with all poker hands. High-ranking hands (ie. Straights) that require discards to find have obvious value, while lower-ranking hands (ie. High card) let you discard 5 cards for free, every time.
Jokers[]
For improving Yorick's ability:
- Drunkard gives an additional discard, expediting the process of improving Yorick.
- Merry Andy gives 3 additional discards, which helps improve Yorick's ability even faster. However, its -1 hand size, unlock requirement, and rarity compared to Drunkard may make it more difficult to come by.
- Jokers which increase hand size, such as Juggler, can be helpful as they make it easier to level up Yorick without discarding wanted cards.
- Mystic Summit, Faceless Joker, Mail-In Rebate, Castle, Hit the Road and Burnt Joker all have abilities that activate on discard.
Blinds[]
The Hook's forced discards help proc Yorick
Anti-Synergies[]
Decks[]
- The Green Deck and Abandoned Deck Decks may prove difficult, as the Green Deck's ability incentivizes not discarding, and the Abandoned Deck's low starting card count may make discarding difficult.
Jokers[]
- Burglar should be avoided at all costs, since setting discards to 0 is a very obvious anti-synergy.
- Delayed Gratification, Banner, Green Joker and Ramen all have abilities that require the player to avoid discarding cards, making it harder to improve Yorick's ability.
Blinds[]
- Yorick cannot be procced at all during
The Water boss blind.
Stakes[]
- Blue Stake and above make Yorick weaker, as the decreased amount of discards means less chances to feed it.
Trivia[]
- Yorick is an unseen character in William Shakespeare's play 'Hamlet'. He is the dead court jester whose skull is exhumed in Act 5, Scene 1, of the play. The sight of Yorick's skull evokes a reminiscence by Hamlet of the man, who apparently played a role during Hamlet's upbringing: "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio; a fellow of infinite jest."
- This also seems to be the origin of the 23 discards levelling, as in the same Act 5, Scene 1 of the play, the following lines can be found: "This skull has lain in the earth three-and-twenty years ... Sir, this skull belonged to Yorick, the king’s jester".[1]
- This joker is animated, with Yorick hovering just above the gold card face.
- The other legendary Jokers are Canio, Chicot, Perkeo, and Triboulet.
